'Challenger 67ft' Ocean Racing Yacht
Experience the thrill on board of an Ocean going racing yacht
Before becoming part of Ocean Experience our yacht has had a remarkable history. She was designed by David Thomas and built by Devonport Dockyard in 1991 for the Challenge Business. Built to withstand the arduous conditions of the Southern Ocean, she took part in the following races:
- British Steel Challenge 1992-93
- BT Global Challenge 1996-97
Both of these Challenges are billed as 'the world's toughest yacht race' and have proved the design of this yacht to be capable of withstanding the worst sea conditions the planet can manifest.
Since completing the 1997 race our yacht has taken part in adventure sailing events in Europe and crossed the Atlantic both ways as part of the EDS Atlantic Challenge.

Team Building and Leadership developmentDo you need to inspire your organisation? Do you have a management team or group who could benefit from improving their communication? Perhaps you just want to shake things up a bit!
Sailing is an excellent sport for people development. It reinforces, in a practical, hands on way, key business skills including:
- Inspiring Leadership
- Enhancing personal performance
- Team synergy
- Managing in a complex environment
On a day out on the water, we set some carefully prepared exercises which may include sending someone up the mast, planning and executing a sail change or planning and agreeing the winning strategy for an afternoon sailing challenge. Together we are able to demonstrate the importance of these key skills and facilitate change in a supportive environment. Details available on request
The yacht can easily accommodate 12 people in 6 cabins each with their own pipe cot. For an ocean racing yacht these are very comfortable and offer a good degree of privacy. There are two heads (toilets) complete with showers and plenty of hot water to go round - under 'normal' conditions!
